Requirements


The requirements for CBP are:

  • Joomla version 1.0.x and 1.5 (Legacy Mode - developed under 1.0.15 and 1.5.9)
  • Community Builder 1.2.0 RC3
Currently we have not tested it with other versions of Joomla.

Installation & Usage


There are no special instructions to install this bot.


First Time Install: 
  •   Use the standard mambot/plugin installation process.
  •   Be sure to publish/enable it (ver J1.5 set system bot legacy mode to enable)
Upgrade:
  •   Un-install the bot/plugin, then install the new one.  Piece of Cake; Easy as Pie; Pick your metaphor.

How to insert the custom Community Builder fields in content


NOTE: the actual usage does NOT have a space after the { or before the }.  The spaces are added here so the plugin would not be invoked.

Usage:

For your custom CB fields, use this format.  Be sure to put the cb_ before the field name.
  • { cb_FieldName } will be replaced by the information in that Community Builder field.
  • { cbp cb_ImageFieldName(caption text) }  places the "caption text" under the image
  • { cbp cb_ImageFieldName({cb FieldName}) } places a field from CB as the caption text
The commercial version allows you to modify (from the back end parameters):
  • how dates are formatted
  • whether URLs are links
  • modify the delimiter between multiple select fields
For other CB fields (not custom fields), use this:
  • { cbp username } will be replaced by the username.
  • { cbp name } will be replaced by the user's full name.
  • { cbp email } will be replaced by the user's e-mail address.
  • { cbp usertype } will be replaced by the user's usertype (Registered, Editor, etc...)
  • { cbp registerdate } will be replaced by the user's date of registration.
  • { cbp lastupdatedate } will insert the date the last time the user's profile is changed
  • { cbp hits } displays the number of hits there are for that user's profile
Image (Commercial Version)
  • { cbp avatar } displays the user's picture (image display can be turned on/off in back end)
  • { cbp cb_imagetypefield } displays an image from the custom cb field when it is an image
  • { cbp cb_imagetypefield(caption text here) } displays a caption under the image
  • { cbp cb_imagetypefield( { cbp cb_sometextfield } ) } displays another CB field as the caption (Note: only one instance of a caption per article is allowed).
REMOVE THE SPACES BEFORE/AFTER { } ( ).  It reads easier with the spaces and it doesn't run the code. If the mambot is unpublished, or the user is not logged in, the tags will simply be removed.

What version of Joomla does it support? It was developed and tested with Joomla version 1.0.15 and 1.5.9.

We have not tested it with any other version. So - caveat emptor - we do not guarantee it will work with any other version.

Set your J1.5 site to legacy mode.
What version of CB does it support?  Version 1.2 RC 3 (it has been tested successfully on others)
Does it display CB fields that are not published? Yes.

To have a finer control, we suggest using the commercial version
How much does it cost?

What are the limitations of the free version
 The free version is excellent for displaying simple cb field types (e.g. Text Field, Integer, Date, Editor Text Area, Text Area...).

It doesn't format multiple select fields, dates, or images.  An affordable commercial version is available.
